What is Printify?

Printify is the other big name in print-on-demand — but it works differently than Printful. Instead of printing everything in-house, Printify is a network of print providers: for any given shirt or mug, you pick from multiple printers competing on base price, location, and product options. Same no-inventory model — you upload a design, a customer orders, one unit gets printed and shipped — but you choose who does the printing.

Why creators pick it

  • Lower base prices. Because providers compete, the same blank often costs $2–4 less than elsewhere — which is margin straight into your pocket, or room to price your merch lower than the next creator’s.
  • A bigger catalog. More providers means more products: the staples, plus oddities like all-over prints, phone grips, and regional garment brands you won’t find on single-printer platforms.
  • Ship-from-near-your-buyer. Providers are spread worldwide, so you can route EU orders to an EU printer and cut both shipping time and cost — a real advantage if your audience isn’t mostly in one country.
  • Free to start, everywhere you sell. Listings cost nothing until a sale happens, and it connects to Shopify, Etsy, TikTok Shop, eBay, and the rest.

What to know

The provider network is also the catch: print quality varies by printer, not by platform. Order samples from a specific provider before you sell — and once you find a good one, stick with them. A paid Premium plan (~$29/mo) cuts base prices a further ~20%, which only makes sense once you’re moving real volume.

Printify or Printful?

Printify for price and product range; Printful for set-and-forget consistency and branding extras. Plenty of stores run both — Printful for the flagship items, Printify for the long tail. Neither costs anything until someone buys, so testing both is free.

Who it’s for

Margin-focused creators, sellers with international audiences, and anyone whose merch idea needs a product the big single-printer catalogs don’t carry.

Verdict

The best-value way to run creator merch — as long as you do the one-time homework of sampling your provider. Pair it with a storefront and it’s a real income stream with zero upfront cost.
